Grain Rain
Grain Rain is the final solar term of spring, marked by a rapid rise in temperatures and abundant rainfall that nourishes the newly planted crops. As the season transitions from the Wood element of spring toward the Fire element of summer, the earth becomes saturated with moisture. In the human body, this is a critical period for protecting the Spleen and Stomach from the challenges of high external humidity.
The Spleen and Stomach are responsible for transforming food and fluids into clean Qi. However, the Spleen is highly sensitive to dampness, which can easily accumulate during this rainy season. When the Spleen is overwhelmed, digestion slows down, resulting in bloating, heavy limbs, and a general lack of mental clarity. Additionally, since the weather is warming, the temptation to consume cold or heavy foods increases, which can further damage the digestive fire.
To maintain internal balance during Grain Rain, focus on warm, light meals and avoid overeating, which places excessive strain on the Spleen. Incorporating fresh ginger into dishes helps stimulate digestion and disperse dampness. Aged white tea is an excellent choice for a daily drink, as its gentle nature helps clear heat and dry dampness without irritating the stomach. Daily meridian tapping, especially along the Spleen and Stomach channels on the legs, can stimulate Qi flow and help the body process fluids efficiently.
