Pear & Lily Bulb Decoction (雪梨百合汤).
Traditional Logic
"In the traditional view, the Lungs are delicate, like leaves that need morning dew. Dry rooms, screens, and late nights can leave that inner landscape parched. Pear brings cool moisture, lily bulb helps the body hold it, and rock sugar harmonizes the cup into a gentle internal dew."
The Goal & Why It Works
"Moistening Lung Yin and bringing a cool, dewy feeling back to dryness."
A cooling, moistening decoction for dry evenings. Pear and lily bulb work together like dew on a leaf, bringing softness back to the throat, breath, and skin.
The Ingredients
1 Asian Pear (雪梨)
A source of clear, cooling moisture. It gently generates fluids and softens dryness.
15g Dried Lily Bulb (百合)
The deep nourisher. It helps the body hold moisture with a quiet, calming quality.
5g Rock Sugar (冰糖)
The harmonizer. A small amount rounds the decoction and guides the moistening quality.
Steps
Prepare the Pear
Core the pear and cut it into medium cubes. Keep the skin on if it is clean, as the skin is traditionally valued in the decoction.
Simmer Softly
Combine pear, lily bulbs, and 400ml filtered water in a clay pot or stainless vessel. Bring to a boil, then lower the heat and cover.
Sweeten Lightly
Simmer 20 minutes. Add rock sugar in the final 5 minutes, using only enough to round the taste.
